Chumash

The Chumash inhabited our area thousands of years before the arrival of explorers and settlers in the 16th and 17th centuries.

In 2005-2006 local Native American descendants and friends built an exhibit of what a Chumash Village might have looked like. It was built on private grounds next to Price Historical Park.

Being made of tules and branches, in the authentic Chumash style, the structures soon degraded, fell into ruin, and disappeared.
